• The Tino Rangatiratanga flag was designed in 1989 by a group called ‘ Te Kawariki ‘, with the designers being Hiraina Marsden, Linda Munn & Jan Dobson Smith, it was created as a national Māori flag to be flown during the 150th anniversary celebrations of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1990.
